Hatton Pacquiao Promo Tour Cancelled
February 13, 2009
The US promotional tour ahead of the Pacquiao-Hatton fight has been canceled so the boxers can train for longer hours and be adequately prepared for the fight of the year in Las Vegas on May 2, 2009.
Top Rank promoter Bob Arum did add that a huge media conference in LA towards the end of March, once the British leg of the promotions have been completed. Plans to promote the fight in New York and San Francisco have been scrapped and the boxers appear to be taking the run-in to this fight with the utmost seriousness.
Arum stated that a trip to London and Manchester would be followed by a return to Los Angeles by Pacquiao for immediate training. Hatton will spend two weeks training in England and then complete his build-up celebrations in Las Vegas. Hatton will again use Floyd Mayweather Sr. as his trainer.
